Location: Calle Ganduxer, Barcelona
This remodeling project is about changing completely the understanding of the space and the relationship between the kitchen and the living room of the house located on Ganduxer street, Barcelona.
For this, we explained to our client that seeing individualized spaces such as living room, dining room, kitchen and study is damaging the way they understand and live the space.
That is why we opted to demolish all the dividing partitions that generate these marked spaces and two large sliding glass and steel sliding doors from floor to floor are designed to function as “mobile partitions”.
The kitchen is very important in this project because it aims to teach the union of these spaces and at the same time separate them. The entire kitchen has an indirect perimeter light to create a warmer environment when required.
The flooring changes as you enter the kitchen and that also divides spaces when the sliding doors are open. To unify spaces, the kitchen generates a continuity of spaces with the furniture, aligning the kitchen furniture with the partitions in the living room and thus generating a "wall of cabinets".
We could say that the project is a path that takes you from the service and laundry area, through the kitchen, which, thanks to the opening generated, has impressive views of Collserola that reaches the spacious living room with a window that opens out onto the whole Barcelona.
